Course overview
We aim by the end of the course the candidate will be able to perform the following:
• Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
• Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
• Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
• Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
• Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements.
• Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for roller use.
• Prepare the roller for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently including environmental considerations.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.
• Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.
Standard Theory Test is 30 minutes and consists of 25 questions, 20 of which are multiple choice. The required pass mark is 80%
Card upon achievement
Traditional NPORS Card is valid for 5 years.
or
CSCS Logo Trained Operator card is valid for 2 years. Within this time, you are expected to complete an NVQ in relevant Plant Operations to achieve a Competence Operator Card.
Upon completion of an NVQ you can achieve your CSCS affiliated Competent Operator card is valid for 5 years.
Pre- requisite
Those wanting a CSCS affiliated card. You must have a CITB Health Safety & Environment within the last 2 years of course test day.
We can book this at our centre with at least 48 hours notice, subject to availability. Our cost is £50inc VAT.
