Level 2 in Construction Trades
Qualification/pathway supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.
The learner will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with the learner and help the learner complete the qualification/pathway.
The learner will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how they, the learner has met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification, as directed by the learner's assessor.
In order to achieve these qualifications learners must successfully complete all mandatory units and one optional unit.

Qualification in supervision enables the learner, to demonstrate and recognise their skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate their competence in a real workplace environment within the construction industry. This qualification supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.
You must also pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test for Specialist Supervisors (SPEC SUP) to apply for your gold CSCS Card.

Level 4 in Construction Supervision
You must be actively working as a Crane Supervisor to complete this qualification, it cannot be simulated in a classroom.
Your assessor will evaluate your daily logs, recorded toolbox talks, signed risk assessments, and witness testimonies
To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate your skills across 8 mandatory units by gathering real-world workplace evidence such as:
• Maintaining Health and Safety: Implementing site safety systems, checking weather conditions (wind speed limits), and ensuring exclusions zones are secure.
• Checking Site Preparedness: Verifying ground conditions, outrigger configurations, and that the lift area matches the pre-planned specifications.
• Controlling Work Activities: Organizing the daily workflow, assigning specific tasks to the lifting team, and managing time schedules.
• Coordinating Teamwork: Leading the workers through clear briefing sessions (Toolbox Talks).
• Workplace Communication: Passing crucial, real-time information accurately between the site management team and the ground crew.

Level 4 in Lifting Operations Crane Supervision
The learner will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area.
NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations (Construction) - Supervising Lifts
This qualification consists of eight mandatory units:
• Supervising Lifting Operations: Directly overseeing the physical lift and ensuring the team follows the Appointed Person’s specific lift plan.
• Health, Safety, and Welfare: Implementing site safety systems, checking weather conditions (such as wind speed limits), and ensuring exclusions zones are secure.
• Coordinating Site Preparation: Verifying ground conditions, checking outrigger mat placements, and ensuring the lift zone matches the plan.
• Coordinating Work Control: Organising daily workflows, setting boundaries, and monitoring overall lifting progress.
• Allocating and Checking Performance: Assigning clear tasks to individuals and monitoring the output and competence of the team.
• Plant and Machinery Allocation: Managing and monitoring the specific usage of cranes, accessories, and associated equipment.
• Maintaining Dimensional Accuracy: Verifying tolerances, radial positions, and the structural orientation of loads.
• Working Relationships: Developing and maintaining reliable communication channels across multi-agency on-site teams.
Level 5
Level 5 in Lifting Operations Appointed Person
NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations (Construction) - Planning Lifts
In order to achieve this qualification must successfully complete all seven mandatory units:
• Planning Lifting Activities: Selecting correct cranes, calculation of load dynamics, choosing lifting accessories, and managing radius configurations.
• Health and Safety Systems: Establishing rigorous environmental, welfare, and risk mitigation systems specifically for complex site operations.
• Site Preparation: Reviewing groundwork, assessing outrigger mat requirements, and identifying underground/overhead proximity hazards.
• Method Selection: Critically evaluating and documenting specific work methodologies to ensure optimal execution.
• Resource Deployment: Strategically allocating machinery, specialized plant, and personnel to match site schedule demands.

Level 6
Level 6 in Site Management
There are no formal academic entry rules, but you must be actively working in a relevant residential management tier to dynamically pull project documents. You must also pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test for Managers and Professionals (MAP) to apply for your black CSCS Card.

Level 7 in Senior Management
This NOCN Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop the technical skills, role-related knowledge and understanding, and behaviours required to work in a wide range of construction senior management roles, including:
• Senior construction manager

• commercial manager
• operations director of a small construction company that delivers entire construction projects.
• property and facilities manager
• Project Managers (those managing several projects concurrently and who have responsibility for the line management of a number of site mangers or senior site mangers).
