• Understanding the role and responsibilities of a slinger/ signaller
• Understanding types of lifting equipment and accessories
• Understanding lifting equipment and accessory limitations and potential hazards of lifting operations
• Understanding and the applicability of rated lift capacity charts with reference to static, and pick and carry for lifting attachment use
• Understand the considerations for lift attachment use
• Checking the weight and dimensions of loads against given information
• Maintaining and storing lifting accessories
• Selecting, attaching, and detaching appropriate lifting accessories
• Understanding methods of communication with the lifting team
• Directing the moving of loads of various weights and dimensions
• Controlling loads during movement
• Interpreting given information and relevant documentation
• Understanding procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service
• Identifying hazards within the work area
• Carrying out end of work procedures
Pre- requested
You must have a CITB Health Safety & Environment or NOCN Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years of course test day.
We can book this at our centre with at least 48 hours notice, subject to availability. Our cost is £50inc VAT.
Card upon achievement
Red Trained Operator Card confirms a level of core skills, knowledge, and understanding that can be applied in the workplace until measured as competent against national standards.
This card is valid for 2 years, during this time you are expected to complete an NVQ in Plant Operations to progress to a Blue CPCS Competence Card.
If you have not completed your NVQ within the 2-year period please contact to discuss you options.
For those with some experience o a shorter course may be available. Please contact our team with a description of your previous involvement and we will discuss a course more suited to your needs.
For those with years of experience and require no training a half day test only is available, please contact or see our Experienced Worker Test availability.
We can tailor our courses to suit everybody’s needs. Whether you have been driving plant already or need correcting on any bad habits, we offer courses for semi novices. Option for experienced worker tests for those not needing any training element.
